The safety and wellbeing of our market guests, volunteers, vendors, and partners is our top priority. Astoria Farmers Market does not tolerate hate speech, discrimination, violence, or predatory behavior in any form. Anyone perpetuating these unwelcome acts will be removed from the farmers market and Open Street area immediately. Security, vested Volunteers and Market Management at the yellow tent are available to assist at any time.
AFM is an independently run farmers market operation un-affiliated with any other markets in New York City — and we are proudly the only farmers market currently in Astoria, Queens! We operate under a concessionaire permit that is procured from NY DOT through the Open Streets program, which shuts down traffic on select city blocks for community programming throughout the pring, summer, and fall.
The 31st Ave Open Street Collective (31OS) is AFM's event partner, and AFM operates under the 31OS event permit as a Market Vendor that coordinates closely with the farmers and food producers you see at AFM.
31OS has been hosting their own programming on the Open Street since 2020 (tabling, yard games, cookouts, movie nights, etc) that is separate from Astoria Farmers Market. While AFM works through a specific vendor application process through our website, you can apply to host your own event with 31OS.
AFM takes place on 31st Avenue between 33rd–35th Streets in Astoria, Queens, NY. Starting in 2026, we will operate fully on the 34th–35th St block, and partially on the 33rd–34th St block.
Astoria Farmers Market takes place 2nd and 4th Sundays in 2026 through November 8th.
Selling hours are 12:30–5:00pm on market dates. Some vendors may sell out of product sooner than 5:00pm, so we recommend arriving early whenever possible.
Due to high demand from both our guests and vendors, AFM responded to across-the-board requests to increase the program
Currently, Astoria Farmers Market is only open from May through November. While we intend to remain a peak-season market for the foreseeable future, we are continually gauging interest in a year-round market or off-season activities. If this is meaningful to you, feel free to let us know in our Feedback Form!
This season, you can expect between 26-29 vendors each market date. Starting in 2026 we are able to operate on both blocks of the 31st Ave Open Street, so we we will have an expanded capacity compared to last year.
AFM vendors accept a minimum of two forms of payment at Astoria Farmers Market — this could include cash and credit/debit, and some accepting Venmo, PayPal, etc.
While AFM is not currently authorized to issue SNAP/EBT benefits at the market level, several of our vendors participate individually. Vendors accepting SNAP/EBT and FMNP coupons will be indicated on our website and market maps on-site.
Yes, leashed dogs are allowed at Astoria Farmers Market!
Thank you so much — there are several ways!
We always welcome and appreciate new volunteers! You make the biggest impact to the success of each market. Visit our Volunteer page to learn more about what's involved. There, you can sign up to receive communications about upcoming volunteer opportunities!
AFM does not offer walk-up tabling or vending opportunities in conjunction with the 31st Ave Open Street. AFM is an independent market operation coordinating with a roster of food vendors and producers vetted to uphold NY Agriculture and DOH food safety standards.
Neighbors interested in tabling or vending through the 31st Ave Open Street can visit the 31OS website or their information tent during Open Street hours (which extend beyond the Astoria Farmers Market schedule). If you're interested in becoming a farmers market vendor, read on below.
Food-related business are invited and encouraged to submit their information through AFM's Vendor Interest Form, open year-round. While the 2026 season is fully booked, we consider new vendors on a rolling basis for waitlist or drop-in opportunities, or for the upcoming season. We appreciate your understanding that due to the high volume of applications we receive, AFM organizers cannot guarantee a response to all applicants — we are a small team!
At this time we have limited capacity for new artisan vendors, though we celebrate artists and are very happy to receive your interest to engage with AFM through our Vendor Interest Form to be considered on a case-basis. We prioritize food producers and vendors as part of our mission, but try our best to incorporate artists that are a good fit when our schedule allows.
While AFM organizers waived vendor fees in 2025 during our inaugural year, moving forward vending at AFM includes a financial commitment. Rates are extended by market organizers to vendors based on their frequency at the market, the vendor's tent footprint, and other eligibility factors. AFM strives to maintain competitive rates to support farmers and small businesses.
